Chaos is definitely not the way things are here at home now that the rugrats have left home, but travelling has moments that sometimes redefine the word for us! This photo was taken as we flew into LA international at 6am on a Sunday morning, but by the time we picked up a car and got onto those roads which looked quite calm (if somewhat confusing) from the air - chaos was definitely the word of the day. I was too busy reading maps and finding exits to take a photo then, so an image of the 'calm before the storm' will have to do!
Soon we were in Yellowstone National Park, which is much closer to our comfort zone, except that the things that bite in the USA are much bigger than our snakes and spiders - and Yellowstone is so busy!! Chaos is definitely the word in Yellowstone when someone spots a bear. Cars and buses stop on the road and people gather in crowds with cameras and binoculars, usually keeping a respectful distance as signs and rangers everywhere remind you that people are just 'food' for bears (and slow food at that!) This crowd was gathering to watch a mother and her cubs in the trees by the roadside.
America has almost the same land mass as us, yet more than ten times our population, It has to be chaos, look at an ants nest! Bet you were glad to get back to busy Melbourne for a rest! LOL (From Sleepy Brisbane)
ReplyDeleteLOL we live in country NSW - definitely no chaos here!! Sleepy Brisbane is chaos for me, so the freeways of LA did my head in...
DeleteYellowstone is one of two places I would love to visit...the other being Yosemite...camera in hand of coursea
ReplyDeleteWe did both - and 6 other national parks as well - Yellowstone is my favourite, but mostly because of the wildlife. The scenery in all the parks was absolutely spectacular and I desperately want to return with a bigger lens and spend more time in that part of the world - however Africa is calling... and we continue to try and fill in the gaps in our Aussie travels as well.
DeleteThe roads do look confusing . . . although I would love to see these parks, I much prefer less chaos.
ReplyDeleteThe bottom shot of LA is the very definition of urban chaos. B&W was a good choice.
ReplyDeleteLove your aerial shot.....and being you're from the country, I give you lots of credit for getting behind the wheel!!!!!
ReplyDeleteoh no - I was navigating! He was driving :)
DeleteLOVE your arial shot of the highways...pure chaos for sure! Yellowstone is one of my favorite places to go...although Rocky Mountain National Park is my favorite...did you get there??
ReplyDeleteWe went to Rocky Mtns as well, but not for long enough! It would be fabulous to return for much longer. Loved the National Parks pass, we bought it in San Francisco and used it for all the parks as we toured around - what a great system (Australia should take note!)
DeleteI love the L.A. shot, freeways are alien to me too. After such a long flight it must have been even crazier making.
ReplyDeleteI can imagine the choas on the roads at peak times!!!!! I think our roads are bad enough!!! Thanks great pictures.
