April 14 - Fashion

When Catherine the Great of Russia was crowned, the fashion was for enormous, heavily embroidered gowns - now I know why all the doorways in the palace were so big!! This is one of her gowns - I think being a ruler of the Russian Empire must have been hard work - even just getting dressed is a challenge I wouldn't like to attempt...

    1. wordpress went strange on me and didn't let me comment, so I made a wordpress account so that it didn't throw me out all the time - not sure what went on but that was my fix for it - sorry if it's confusing!

    2. Strange then that birdgardenau is the only WP Addr I have to approve, could it be the link to the blogger addr (Here) that causes it? Email me as I have a suggestion on that! Ron

  7. Fun to admire this wonderful costume but daunting to think of actually wearing it and trying to take care of bodily functions! Great composition BTW. Bet she wished for "pajama days".
