March 20 - Downtown

There's not much 'downtown' where I live, so I have taken another from our trip to Russia last summer. Downtown Moscow can be spectacular, with ornate classic buildings of past centuries - and it can also be ugly - from an era where cheap concrete structures were hastily erected 'for the people'. There are areas just like this downtown in most big cities, almost beautiful in their ugliness and with a strange attraction for photographers.

  3. Oh wow, not very attractive, but it sure makes for a cool image...love the contrast between the busy lines on the top and bright colors on the bottom!

  5. Well, I was just going to view your posts and comment on a "few" since I'm so far behind...but I can't help myself, your photos are just soooooo intriguing! I love how this almost seems like you've used selective color with its masses of grey/neutral concrete and the few bright elements. It reminds me of the saying "you can always serve as a bad example"...which this horrendous hulk of a building does!!
