a 366 photo challenge for 2012 - I have joined the friendly crowd at Elements Village on the web and have decided to start at 'A' and follow the 366 themes daily - I like the idea that I will need to take (or make) images that will stretch my skills and imagination - and if I throw in a few extras just for fun - forgive me - OK? Trying to stay focused for a whole year will be a challenge in itself - wish me luck and come and visit anytime...

April 23 - Fluffy
Still playing with borders today with these 'fluffy' subjects - a nesting box of chicks just a few days old (with a 'page curl' effect) and a tiny friar bird with downy fluff still on his head and a displacement map border with embossed edges.

Such wary innocence! While I think that, from a technical point of view, the bottom is the better photo, there is something infinitely appealing about the the expression of that enchanting bird in the first shot.
ReplyDeleteYep, s/he's cute now - but grows up ugly ;) one of our not-so-pretty honeyeaters, and noisy too - but they do have a kind of interesting song at times ... My challenge has been to take a photo of one of the adults that is beautiful - hard when you have a leathery head and plain colours - but I do have one at breeding time where the boy looks quite distinguished with his ruff of creamy feathers at the neck.
DeleteMy Little chick-a-dees!
ReplyDeletesuch sweet photos, another bad hair day /:>) that page curl is cool...and I sort of am partial to the richer, deeper colours of the chicks, ugly in adulthood or not I've totally fallen for the wee friar....
ReplyDeleteLovely shots...I'm not a great fan of borders but you have done a great job on both of these
ReplyDeleteI too like the expression on the friar bird..kinda like "Who you callin' ugly?"
ReplyDeleteI like the attitude of the friar bird too. Nice fluffs!
ReplyDeleteI like the way you captured the downy look of the top chick! The cuddle of chicks is adorable. They grow so fast these are great shots!
