Still plodding along the paths of learning I played with these to give an old, slightly tinted B&W image with a pale vignette - not sure that it was successful, but have learnt lots :)
a 366 photo challenge for 2012 - I have joined the friendly crowd at Elements Village on the web and have decided to start at 'A' and follow the 366 themes daily - I like the idea that I will need to take (or make) images that will stretch my skills and imagination - and if I throw in a few extras just for fun - forgive me - OK? Trying to stay focused for a whole year will be a challenge in itself - wish me luck and come and visit anytime...

May 09 - Glamour
Glamour - I think that egrets are a glamorous bird - especially in mating season when they grow a cape of beautiful lacy feathers which blow softly in the breeze. Who wouldn't like a glamorous gown like this? or would you rather be a glamorous peacock with a long, iridescent tail?

Beautiful birds....like your creative post processing.
ReplyDeleteI'm a fan of muted tones. I think that the technique works particularly well with these two avian shots. With the egret, it emphasizes the stateliness of the bird. Many people would think of the peacock in terms of the brilliance of its feathers and would want to go for something highly saturated; but the more subtle shades show off the details and textures of those elegant feathers. I have to remember to try a white vignette when I opt for a desaturated image: I hadn't thought of that, But you've demonstrated that it works very well.
ReplyDeleteThanks Bobbie, I really appreciate the feedback. I like it too, that they have a old and elegant feel rather than the bright glamour of very sharp, saturated images.
ReplyDeleteRegardless - I hope you Wimmin realize that is the MALES what is resplendent!
ReplyDeletein the bird population yes - it's all about giving the girls something nice to look at - what happened to the human men is what I'd like to know!!! ;)
DeleteI agree with Bobbie, the technique works. Perhaps just just reduce the strength of the vignette slightly. Its (in my opinion) just a little harsh for the softness of the subjects
ReplyDeleteThanks Steve, I think you are right - if I get a chance I'll have another play with these.
DeleteLovely technique. I love the muted tones and the white vignette.
